Fortunately the police caught him (he was stupid enough to try to escape through outgoing traffic from the Brickyard 400, which was moving at 10ft/hr. Right after the crash I gestured to him that I'd meet him at the parking lot on the strip mall across the street - he looked me in the eye, and tried to drive off. A witness saw it all, and alerted the 10 police officers standing around the corner. Get this - this idiot had no license, and no insurance. I've already talked to my insurance company about this and I have uninsured driver coverage, so that'll cover the repairs but looking at the car it looks like one of the rear panels have been misaligned by about .5mm or so, and the rear panel's caved in. Hopefully the frame itself isn't damaged.

I hope my insurance company sues the shit out of this moron and he goes to jail for this.

The odd thing is that I was calm for a few days, then yesterday morning I got up, it hit me that my new car's been damaged by someone who wasn't even supposed to have a car, and I started cursing like sailor. At least I didn't lose my temper in front of the police officer.

Wax on, wax off....

I'd just like to put it on record that I hate waxing the car. Man, what a pain. If you leave it on too long it hardens and you have to buff the spot at least three times to get it off. Washing the car's not a problem, add soap, then spray water on it until it washes off completely. Oh, and I don't like drying the car either. Went out and got the whole line of Turtle Wax Platinum products. There's plenty here, so I can get Harmony's car cleaned out too. Only catch is, the instructions say not to use the stuff in direct sunlight, so I'll have to do it in the morning before the sun goes up. So much for sleeping in during the weekend. But I'll have a shiny car. Once I hit Southeastern Avenue though, BAM! There's this pong that has the distinct smell of sulphur. Apparently there's this plant near the office that belches out awful fumes. It's funny that I've never noticed it before, though with the old car I always had the windows up and the A/C on. Having to smell this stuff on the last leg of my drive is bad enough, but considering that Redcats is located in a residental neighbourhood, it means that everyone who lives there has to smell that stuff all the time. It's strange, because the neighbourhood isn't exactly a ritzy area (the property tax for our facility's probably pretty low) and I think a lot of the people who work in the distribution center actually live around the area, but just a few blocks down on Ohio Road there are some new Manhattan-style luxury townhouses going for at least a couple hundred dollars. It's yet another startling reminder of the rich-poor gap and the impact of urban decay.

I gots bling-bling yo!

First off, Happy Birthday Mom!

In other recent developments, I got myself a new car over the weekend - a pearl blue 2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition. Moonroof, 6-CD changer, leather steering wheel, alloy wheels, woohoo! Drives like a dream. The CD-changer's the most amusing of all the features. Instead of a cartridge in the back of the car, it's an built into the car stereo unit, so I just kept feeding it CDs. Hours of wholesome entertainment! If only it'd make burping sounds when it gulps down a CD.

I would have liked a coupe, but they're not very practical and I didn't feel like paying for more insurance. I got incredible service (if you're in Indianapolis, and want a Honda, go talk to Honda West on 38th Street and Georgetown. Tell Andy Wysong that Tom Choy sent you) and a great deal. Only issue I have is that no matter how gently I turn, all the stuff in the back got tossed around. I'll have to get a cargo net. My buddy Eric suggested I do a Type R makeover on it but I suspect he's hoping that I'd actually do it so he could mock me after spending three times the amount of money the car's worth on it. Maybe I could add a few things more to it, like stencils over the windshield, like this:

I can't believe I put Ali G and my mom (or, as Ali G would say, me mam) on the same post. I'm a bad, bad son.

Anyway I'll post up some pics when I have a chance.

Tom Flynn Should Not Make Coffee

Well, it seems that Tom Flynn went ahead and made both pots of coffee this morning. Pretty much everyone around here just puts in 1/2 bag of coffee grounds, but Tom puts in A BAG AND A HALF. This is especially not good if your boss catches you mumbling to yourself in your cubicle.

At the same time I've realized that despite the emails and phonecalls that I trade with my folks back home, they'd never really get a glimpse of my life here even if we communicated every single day.
